Mini Laxers

From The Coaches

Welcome to the Verona Lacrosse League Mini Laxers Program.

Mini Laxers is our kindergarten through 2nd grade introductory lacrosse program. We are excited to get the season started and look forward to our kids having fun and being introduced to the game of lacrosse in a positive and safe environment.  Each session will last for an hour, and the kids will learn basic lacrosse skills and rules of the game through a variety of drills and activities.

COST

The program cost is $75 for the full season. In order to participate you also need to have a USA Lacrosse Membership which costs $35 and covers the insurance cost of your player. Sticks can also be purchased through the club for $40 if you don't have your own.

DATE / TIME / LOCATION

Our sessions usually occur from 12:30-1:30pm every Saturday from April 13th to end of May on Freedom Field in Verona.

Additional information about practice times can be found via the SportsEngine app

Please have the children arrive 15 minutes early for the first session  so we can get everyone checked in and distribute sticks to those that ordered one through the program.

EQUIPMENT / CLOTHING

The only equipment that is required for the mini laxers program is a boys or girls lacrosse stick and a water bottle.  There will be many kids with the same sticks, so we recommend putting names on them after the first practice.  Especially for the first few sessions, please have your children dress for the weather.  Freedom field is often much colder than it seems due to the wind.  Lastly, sneakers are absolutely fine since we will be on turf; there is no need to buy cleats.

COACHING

The mini laxers program is coached entirely by volunteers.  At this age, the more coaches we have to keep things organized and moving, the better.  Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to help out.  It's not a big time commitment and is a great way to get involved with the program.  While lacrosse experience is helpful, it’s certainly not required.

Looking forward to a fun and successful season.
